3/9/07: 300 (2007)Deadlines loom, so here’s another quick plug for an action epic that most critics would like to pretend has a good Leftist message. It’s the same crap that we got with
Apocalypto, except that movie had a disgraced director who was eager for the media to think he had a good Leftist message. That still didn’t bring in any Oscar nominations.
The main thing is that—as in
Apocalypto—
300 is a movie where you can cheer the forces of Western civilization. You don’t even have to wait for the very end of the movie. The only way
300 could be better is if they’d used special effects to put Charlton Heston’s head on the bodies of 300 actors.
Also, here’s what you say from now on when somebody asks you to do something impossible: “Sure, but where do we get the other 299?”
Make it your own: In theaters
now—and don’t forget to buy the 300
action figures. (No, we didn’t drop the italics. You should buy 300 action figures.)
