...and so we announce that we are suspending this site until we have solved our nation's financial crisis.

Hey, why don't we quit lending money to all those deadbeats that Barney Frank doesn't want to offend?

Hmmm. Having solved our nation's financial crisis, it seems we have to admit that we're just still busy with other deadlines*. Things get hectic with Halloween coming. Our friends at Egg City Radio, however, were recently kind enough to post a download of Henry Badowski’s fine Life Is A Grand… LP from 1981.

If the twee movement had ever really taken off, Badowski would be heralded as its Iggy Pop. His romantic pop tunes make DEVO sound like James Brown. (We’re stealing that line from some ’80s review, but it might be from a review we wrote. We’re too old to remember.) Badowski was certainly an old-fashioned and atypical punk—which explains why he ended up leaving The Damned after getting hit by one of the members.

Anyway, Life Is A Grand… is relentlessly pro-marriage just by virtue of “Baby, Sign Here With Me.” The overachievers at Egg City Radio even added the 7” originally included in the LP, so you get the bonus track of “Making Love With My Wife.” It’s not a particularly clean download. You’ll discover a few skips, but that’s okay. Most of the pristine copies were probably sold as landfill by 1983.

*UPDATE: Didn't mean to cause another market panic; we should have noted that our regular postings will resume on Tuesday, September 30th. Thanks to everyone who cared enough to express concern.
