  10/23/08: CMJ Attacks!

Closed today due to deadlines, plus several conventions and events—including the CMJ Music Marathon in Manhattan. Still, we’ll take a moment to note that we can now enjoy 1996’s Mars Attacks! a little more. Tim Burton’s epic goof on the old trading card series was a disappointment on the big screen, but played much better when it started showing up on cable. We didn’t mind Glenn Close mimicking Nancy Reagan as the First Lady, either. Her character turned out to be kind of heroic. We mainly took offense at Paul Winfield playing General Casey as a snide stab at Colin Powell. The character is seen on the phone boasting about how he’s made it to the top by abandoning ideals or principles.

Anyway, now we can enjoy Mars Attacks! a little more.
