    You won’t find a less-informed headline this year than ABC News’ “Founder of Punk's Mink DeVille Dies at 58.” While it’s true that Willy DeVille recently passed away, his work with Mink DeVille had nothing to do with punk. In fact, DeVille—whose band began playing out in 1974 San Francisco—was the antithesis of punk by any definition. That’s how he stood out while playing CBGB. 

Anyway, here’s a look back at one of Willy DeVille’s many fine free-thinking moments—originally published in the wake of some kind of gun massacre, which explains the cryptic opening.
